As a licensed psychologist:
Alex transitioned to private practice in late 2023 due to a desire to spend more time with his clients and their families throughout the testing process. He fields direct referrals from individuals/families, as well as public/private schools, other psychologists and therapists, physical and occupational therapists, and physicians (e.g., psychiatry, neurology, developmental pediatrics, adolescent medicine, endocrinology) in both Florida and Missouri.
Prior to his transition to private practice, Alex founded and directed the psychological testing program at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, a large nationally recognized pediatric hospital in Fort Myers, Florida, from 2021-2023. He previously served as a clinical faculty member at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, a pediatric hospital affiliate of Johns Hopkins Medicine and University of Maryland Medical System located in Baltimore, Maryland, in 2021.
Pre-licensed training:
Alex's doctoral training focused on psychoeducational testing and general educational advocacy of school-age students. He gained expertise in evaluating students for special education eligibility to inform Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Alex also served as a liaison to advanced law students and clinical law faculty who represented students whose learning needs were not being properly addressed via public schooling. He is proficient in both federal and state policies, procedures, and educational law pertaining to special education eligibility and rights of students and their families.
Alex completed a dual clinical child- and forensic-focused APA-accredited internship at Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department in San Antonio, Texas from 2019-2020. He evaluated and treated incarcerated youth with significant behavioral and mental health issues, personality concerns, and a history of trauma and other adverse childhood experiences. He routinely collaborated with other treatment providers, attorneys, and county judges in advocating for the mental health needs of at-risk and detained youth.
He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, from 2020-2021 where he evaluated children, adolescents, and young adults who experienced a wide range of developmental differences and psychological challenges.
